In Search of Harmony
Greek Islands & Mediteranean Shores
This new and exciting series In Search of Harmony is a collection of hand finished abstracts that is both authentic and unique. An exclusive assortment of fascinating images coming mostly from the cruise ports and iconic landmarks of the beautiful Greek islands and Mediterranean shores.
Collection One sets sail from Athens, Greece and sails on to the islands of Santorini, Mykonos, Paros, Syros, Crete, and Rhodes, in other words the major Greek cruise ports, before we turn right and dip into Ephesus, Bodrum, Istanbul, Turkey and the Egyptian capital of Cairo.
Closer inspection of these modern artworks reveal the fascinating details of each iconic landmark. More than your travel brochure image, each work teases the viewer’s eye with an unusual perspective of colourful and historic Mediterranean scenes.
Each work is a unique giclée on hahnemühle cotton rag or canvas, hand embellished (many with gold leaf) and signed. Although the original photographs, taken by the artist, are not available to the collector, the exact coordinates are supplied on the authenticity certificate enabling the owners to visit the same cruise location, stand on the identical spot, and take their own photographs of the original scene.
Wilson’s collection is an original concept and demonstrates the different perceptions conceived by locals and tourists visiting the same iconic destinations.
Lines and angles are repositioned, inspired by the undulations of landscape and sea. Colours represent cobalt skies, dark swathes of volcanic lava and creamy pumice. These coexist in harmony beneath luscious, silver-green olive groves, vibrant citrus trees, and villages full of noisy, big hearted people with their whitewashed houses and blue domed churches. Although individual images, the collection coexists in harmony.
Despite being abstract in nature, on closer inspection the detail of each scene is encapsulated in the image emphasizing the importance of nurturing the delicate balance between individuality and unity. It challenges us and our communities to withstand change, not merely to survive, but to work together and flourish. This is a reminder that we can make an active choice to search for harmony.
There are no new ideas – only people who hold different views.
